Assistant Chief, Vancouver Fire & Rescue Services
Ron has been with Vancouver Fire Rescue Services (VFRS) for 26 years, the last three of which have been in the exempt ranks as the Assistant Chief of Occupational Health & Safety. His portfolio responsibilities include Health & Wellness, WorkSafe BC regulatory and reporting compliance, Attendance, Workplace Safety administration – inclusive of PPE, SCBA, and Exposure protocols, and acting as the Operational Safety Officer for the Department. Prior to his current role, Ron had roles in suppression, up to the rank of Captain, as well as spending time in Fire Investigations and the VFRS Training Division. Included in the portfolio responsibilities is the administration and oversight of the VFRS Peer Mental Health Support Network, which includes the CISM team. Prior to joining the fire service, Ron spent five years in public education.
