Attendees will hear how three organizations have worked to create a culture of change in response to workplace mental health issues. We will hear from:
– Patricia Doiron, Veterans Affairs Canada will talk about how VAC is using lived experience as a guide to reach out to employees to engage and support them in taking care of their own mental wellness as they support others in the field;
– Gabriela Freyenmuth will discuss Corrections Canada’s approach to mental health in the workplace including the Road to Mental Readiness (R2MR) model, how it has been adapted to address needs of Corrections’ employees and their families, including some initial results;
– Maryse Neilson, CFB Esquimalt will provide an overview of the Maritime Pacific Health & Wellness Strategy that is focusing on creating cultural change through an innovative community-led health and wellness promotion initiative that includes mental and social wellness.
There will also be an opportunity to participate in a facilitated discussion to find out more about how these organizations have focused on the needs of their employees to build models of practice that are different and unique, but that can also be adapted for use in other organizations regardless of size or service.
